Dortmund have been asked if they wish to continue entering a team in the Under-19s league next season. The league runs from August to May with games usually taking place on Sunday mornings.

BVB U19s finished 2nd in Group 2 last season (Pl26, W17, 56pts) behind winners Schalke (65pts), who they beat 2-1 away on the final day. Dortmund have accepted the invitation. The Under-19s will play a BVB senior squad XI on Sunday.


Transfers:

Andreas Beck‘s agent has reportedly approved a four-year contract offer with Dortmund worth £49,000 pw. Dortmund had a £6.25m bid for the Hoffenheim right-back accepted yesterday.

Fixtures:

The 2013-14 Bundesliga fixture list is revealed tomorrow. Dortmund already know they face an opening day trip to VfL Wolfsburg. The DFB-Pokal draw will be made 08 July.


FIFA Confederations Cup:

Leandro Damião’s five goals for Brazil (including a thirty-minute first-half hat-trick) over footballing minnows Tahiti fired the hosts into the semi-finals of the FIFA Confederations Cup alongside Italy who triumphed 3-0 over Japan. Brazil and Italy meet on Saturday to determine the group winner, while Tahiti and Japan play for pride on the same evening. The winners of tomorrow’s match between Spain and Uruguay will also qualify.

UEFA U-21 Championships:

Wilfried Zaha’s brace for England just before half-time saw England dump Israel out of the Under-21 European Championships on home soil. The 2-0 result means that England and Italy go into their Saturday match with each other with equal records. Spain have booked their place in the final four by beating Italy 3-1. Germany play France, and Sweden face Russia in the Group B matches tomorrow.
