Mario Götze put in a man of the match performance (9.00) as Germany’s Under-21s comfortably beat Sweden 3-0 to qualify for the semi-finals of the European Championship. Covering an impressive 8.6 miles during the match, Götze supplied the killer passes for both of Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s second-half goals, before a late Patrick Herrmann strike sealed the win.
Dortmund teammate Moritz Leitner also played, putting in a solid 7.10 performance on the right-side of midfield. BVB’s other player at the tournament, Ilkay Gündogan missed the game after picking up a knock in the defeat to France, but should be fit for Wednesday’s semi-final against holders Spain.
In the other Group B match, favourites France saw off Russia 3-0, despite finishing the game with ten men, to win the group and set-up a semi-final with England.
