Yassine Benzia opened the scoring inside five minutes with his Golden Boot-winning fourth goal in six games to put France on their way to a 2-0 win over Italy in today’s UEFA Under 19 Championship Final. Lenny Nangis flicked home at the near post from a corner just five minutes later to double the lead before the game somewhat fizzled out with France happy to sit back and soak up any Italian pressure in the match in Lithuania.
The victory is France’s 8th (in 10 appearances in the Final), which puts them one behind 9-times winners England and Spain (coincidentally, the two losing semi-finalists) in the competition records.
