Live match report by @realtimeFM:

“Wolfsburg aren’t a bad side and I think it will be close but for my money this should be a win for Dortmund. The absence of Emanuel Pogatetz will also hit the home side hard.” – Leon Horn, The Express.

Katsouranis and Praet are on the bench for BVB after signing in midweek. Reus and Götze back in the starting line-up.

0′ We’re underway in the drizzle at the Volkswagen Arena!

7′ Tolga Cigerci cautioned for clattering Viktor Fischer (who’s taken a knock).

9′ Wolfsburg started brightly, Olic has put in a couple of good crosses towards Jönsson, both headed away by Subotic.

12′ Fágner brings down Fischer about 25 yards out. He’s on the end of some rough attention today.

14′ Tolga Cigerci is late on Schmelzer right in front of the dugouts. For a player already cautioned, he’s not holding back.

15′ Gündogan works the ball into the area. Lewandowski knocks the ball off for Fischer but Benaglio saves well.

16′ 1-0 Wolfsburg. Home side counter after Olic keeps the ball in on the left. A through ball takes a deflection off Reus right into the path of DIEGO who finishes neatly.

GOAL! VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 Borussia Dortmund (Diego 16′)

17′ BVB attack from the kick-off. Fischer again fouled by Fágner. Götze’s free kick doesn’t reach Lewandowski.

20′ First corner of the game goes to Dortmund. Reus chases down a ball on the right and draws the challenge from Rodriguez.

21′ Mats Hummels heads inches over, completely unmarked at the near post.

25′ Götze has a great chance for a shot but feeds the ball left to Fischer. Move breaks down, Wolfsburg counter and win a corner. Cleared.

32′ Rodriguez catches Reus late and gets away with it. BVB bench furious. They’ll have to make a change here.

34′ Substitution BVB: Ivan Perisic on for Marco Reus.

37′ Perisic’s first touch demands a fingertip save from Benaglio to divert it wide. From the corner, Gundogan goes down. No penalty. Corner.

38′ Neven Suboic cautioned for a foul on Olic on halfway.

45′ That’s half-time. BVB aren’t creating enough options against a no-nonsense Wolfsburg side, who lead 1-0. Reus stretchered off on 35.

46′ Both sides back out for the second half. No changes and we’re back underway!

53′ Fischer plays a lovely through ball to Lewandowski who strikes it cleanly but is denied by Benaglio at his near post.

61′ Götze cuts inside from the right and fires a shot right across the face of goal. BVB creating more chances now. Gündogan pulling strings.

63′ Substitution BVB: Kostas Katsouranis comes on for his debut, replacing Viktor Fischer.

66′ Hummels rises at the far post to meet a cross from Götze but his header is straight at the keeper. BVB pushing hard for an equaliser.

68′ Marcel Schmelzer cautioned for pushing Fagner after spending an hour being clattered by the Wolfsburg right back.

70′ Substitution VFL: Jan Polak replaces Tolga Cigerci.

75′ Half-chance for Lewandowski. Shot charged down. Ball hasn’t crossed halfway for a good ten minutes.

76′ Ivan Perisic heads against the post. Meets Götze cross at far post, heads past the keeper and it comes back out off the opposite post. Agonisingly close.

77′ Makoto Hasebe cautioned after cynically breaking up a BVB attack.

78′ Olic beats the offside trap, goes clean through, and only a save from Weidenfeller stops Wolfsburg going two-up.

85′ Into the final five minutes. Dortmund going into get it forward mode.

89′ Two added minutes.

90+2′ It’s all over at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg win 1-0 in what was a poor match. Goal on the break then stifled an uncreative BVB.

Some may accuse manager Surman of tinkering with the formation today, moving Sven bender deeper back than normal to protect the back four, but the system worked. BVB created opportunities for themselves but were denied by good saves and, at one stage, the woodwork. The attention will turn to news from the medical staff about Marco Reus who was stretchered off before the break.
