BVB captain Mats Hummels has returned to the club after withdrawing from the German squad following their 2-0 World Cup Qualifying win in Ireland.
The centre-back played for the entire game despite the incident taking place before half-time. Dortmund’s medical squad have advised the management that Hummels has slight elbow damage and will likely need a fortnight to recover.
It’s the third time that Hummels has been injured while away on international duty.
Schalke’s Benedikt Höwedes has replaced him for Tuesday’s match against Kazakhstan.
