Weekend BL Preview, Nürnberg 4-2 Bochum


FC Nürnberg lifted lifted themselves up to 11th in the league with a comfortable 4-2 home win over VfL Bochum last night. Tim Chandler fired the hosts in front just around half-hour mark, before Zlatko Dedic pulled Bochum level seven minutes later. Robert Mak restored the home side’s one-goal lead just before half-time.

Nikoloz Gelashvili grabbed a second equaliser for Bochum within 90 seconds of the restart, but after Marek Mintal converted a 55th minute penalty, Bochum couldn’t create further chances and eventually conceded a fourth goal when Nana Asare headed home a corner with ten minutes to go. Bochum slip a place to 13th after being leapfrogged by their opponents.

Head Physio Peter Kuhnt has reported that youth midfielder Abbas Hammoud has sustained a back injury while lifting weights (bro) during training. The 15 year-old will be unavailable for up to a month while the injury is treated at the club.
