A howler of an error by goalkeeper Dennis Langensteiner three minutes into stoppage time gifted Hannover an equaliser in today’s U19 Bundesliga Group 3 match, a result which leaves Dortmund without a win in their opening five matches. Dortmund took a deserved lead when Quirin Riemann cooly slotted home in the 24th minute and were denied a second goal shortly after when Riemann was penalised for an apparent foul on the Hannover goalkeeper.
Said Benkarit was brought down in the area by the home skipper early in the second-half and smashed the penalty into the top corner to give BVB a 2-0 lead after 53 minutes. The two-goal cushion lasted just five minutes when Marc Yannik Grunert arrived at the far post to head home a fine cross from the right-hand side.
With two and a half of the three additional minutes played, Dennis Langensteiner in the Dortmund goal came to claim a ball on the left-hand side of his area, hesitated and slipped when gathering the ball on the line, gifting it to Jochen Reich who slotted through to Grunert to tap into an empty net for the equaliser.
