Dortmund’s academy side fought back from 1-2 down to record their first win since 03 August with a friendly victory at SC Westfalia Herne this afternoon, Ogün Gümüstas scoring a goal in either half to end the long win-less streak.
Gümüstas opened the scoring in the 14th minute, firing home a lovely pass from Quirin Reimann, but the lead only lasted quarter an hour when Fouad Stewart – just on as a substitute for the injured Josef Bungert – slipped inside his own area allowing Mehdi Shakouri to square the ball to Artur Weigl to poke home from close range.
Weigl then put the hosts in front a minute before the break as he raced on to a through ball from Bernie Soltau and slotted underneath Dennis Langensteiner. Said Benkarit restored parity on 74 minutes when he struck home from ten yards out, before Gümüstas won it with four minutes to, finishing off a similar move.
The U19s don’t play this weekend, and are next in action in a week’s time hosting Arminia Bielefeld in the U19 Bundesliga. They then travel to VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday for the U19s German Cup Second Round.
