Surman’s Post-Match Press Conference

Following tonight’s 1-0 win at NürnbergFirst Team Manager Grayson Surman took questions from the assembled regional and national newspapers about squad rotation, over-confidence, and being top of the league. In today’s news it was rumoured that Hannover manager Mirko Slomka was heading for the chop, on the day that Feyenoord parted company with Geert Meijer.

“There has been a lot of speculation this week surrounding the future of [Hannover manager] Mirko Slomka, with pundits critical and some fans losing patience. What are your thoughts on the matter?”

“I hope Hannover stick with him. You don’t get anywhere making knee-jerk reactions. They looked well-drilled when we played them recently.

Gregor Wolf, The Gazette
“Having chosen to rest a number of players,
you must be delighted with the win…?

“I am delighted. It shows we have, not just
great depth at the club, but great desire.

“That win put your side top.
Do you think you can make that spot your own?”

“I don’t see why not, we’re there on merit.
It will be tough, and the games come thick and fast.”

You just managed to extend your unbeaten run and the team
looks invincible right now. Do you think you can keep this form going?”

“I think if you look at our fixtures and our current
form, this good run can go on a little longer.”

“Pundits are suggesting that the players will suffer from over-confidence though – do you fear that could be a problem?

“Each win brings just a bit more confidence for
the next game – and that’s a good thing.”

Felipe Santana picked up the man-of-the-match award tonight.
How did you rate his performance for you?

“Felipe was solid for us today, and inspired the young team around him.
That’s exactly why he played, and I expect to see more of the same.”
