BREAKING NEWS: After learning that Borussia Dortmund had been keeping tabs on striker Daniel Sturridge recently, Chelsea have proposed a straight-swap with the German league-leaders for central midfielder Ilkay Gündogan.
It’s understood that Chelsea value the 24 year-old England international around the £12m mark, though it’s widely believed that Dortmund value their 23 year-old central midfielder slightly higher. Dortmund had been tracking Sturridge’s recent progress following the injury to Robert Lewandowski, though Julian Schieber has been in fine scoring form lately.
Any deal wouldn’t be able to be completed until the new year, when Lewandowski is expected back from his calf injury. With Viktor Fischer and Marco Reus at the club, and Sturridge likely to demand wages double those that Gündogan currently earns, a deal looks unlikely at present.
