Lewis Holtby scored inside the opening thirty seconds to give Schalke a 1-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, a result which keeps Die Knappen in second-place, five points behind Dortmund (who won 4-2 at Köln) and a point above Bayern Munich (who beat Frankfurt 1-0).

Fürth lifted themselves clear of the bottom two with a fantastic 2-1 win at Borussia Münchengladbach. After taking a 5th minute lead and being pegged back, it was Djiby Fall who bundled home a 76th minute winner to shock a Gladbach side that could have gone third.

The international break robs us of Bundesliga action next weekend, but all eighteen teams are back in action in a fortnight’s time on Saturday 23rd November, where the top six all play each other: Dortmund host Gladbach, Düsseldorf play Schalke, and Bayern Munich travel to Wolfsburg.
