An own-goal from Sandro Gebauer inside the final fifteen minutes completed a turnaround 3-2 victory for Borussia Dortmund’s Reserves/U23 side at FC Köln this afternon, as the club celebrated a hat-trick of wins this weekend across the club’s senior-reserves-academy sides.
Pierre Kleinheider had a superb game in goal, despite being beaten twice, and was on hand late on to make a trio of great saves to ensure that Dortmund won the friendly match at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion this evening. Köln opened the scoring through Marco Ban on 8 minutes before Tim Gerhard’s header two minutes after half-time doubled the lead.
Marvin Ducksch pulled one back for Dortmund after 57 minutes before captain Kostas Katsouranis put a great cross into the box for Josef Bungert to turn home for an equaliser ten minutes later.
With Dortmund’s confidence up, they pushed for a winner and when Gebauer diverted a cross from Nils Lennard Dietz past his own ‘keeper, BVB got the result that stretches their winning run to an incredible eleven games.
Happy birthday to right-back Julian Koch who turns 23 today. Koch has made seven appearances for the senior side so far this season, impressing when deputising for the injured Andreas Beck.
