Vice-Captain Roman Critical of Boss Surman

weidenfellerClub vice-captain Roman Weidenfeller has spoken out critically of his manager’s post-match team talk after they let in two late goals in an otherwise comfortable 3-2 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

It’s widely believed that Surman was less than pleased by the way the team lost focus and gave their opponents a way back into the match, instead of closing out a professional performance. A spokesperson for the club revealed that parties involved, believed to also include Moritz Leitner, held ‘clear the air’ talks.

It’s rumoured that goalkeeper Weidenfeller felt slighted this summer that centre-back Mats Hummels – rested on Saturday – was given the captaincy ahead of him following Sebastian Kehl’s departure in the summer.
