SUNDAY 22 DECEMBER 2013: It was a tale of two goalkeeping errors as Hamburg and Dortmund’s Under-19 sides drew 1-1 in their Group 3 League match this morning. Dominik Masek was gifted the chance to put Hamburg in front after quarter of an hour when Dennis Langensteiner came – and failed – to clear a long-ball, and he duly took the opportunity.

After an even match throughout, parity was restored with just three minutes to go when the home ‘keeper Giancarlo Lenze fumbled a cross into his own net to ensure the points were shared. After 12 matches played, Dortmund are 4th on 20 points.

  1. Schalke, 29 points, +20 GD
  2. Duisburg, 23 points, +5 GD, 19-14
  3. Hamburg, 23 points, +5 GD, 16-11
  4. Dortmund, 20 points, +8 GD

Dortmund are among the clubs said to be chasing Regensburg’s promising winger Karsten Keller. According to Football Daily, the highly-rated 15 year-old would command a fee close to £500k in compensation to release him from his 5-year trainee contract at the club. No one was available at BVB to comment.

The club’s 16 year-old right-back Osman Varol has parted company with his agent Tobias Stock, who also represents Eric Durm. Coincidentally, Varol stubbed a toe in a training session today and will be out for a week or so.
