MONDAY 30 DECEMBER 2013: The major footballing news over the last five days has been the retirement of Bruce Arena who had been manager at Los Angeles Galaxy for the last five and a half years. Under his tenure, the club won the MLS Cup in 2011 and were runners-up this season.

Elsewhere, Steve Bruce has left Hull to become the new manager at Everton, while Bolton’s Gus Poyet has taken the reins at Reading. In Spain, Gil Vicente have appointed Carlos Brito as their new man in charge.


Seven Dortmund players have six months left on their contracts: Julian Koch, Eric Durm, Florian Hübner, Thomas Meißner, Paul Ehmann, Marcel Deelen, Lennart Zeugner, and 17 year-old striker Ogün Gümüstas.

koch1Of those, only Julian Koch has played for the first team, making eight starts and three sub appearances this season. He also scored a fantastic goal for the U23s earlier this season. It has been confirmed that Koch has been offered a new 3-year, £22k p/w deal.
