Hummels in World XI; Fischer, Kostas Winners


hummelsDortmund captain Mats Hummels has been named in the FIFA/FIFPro World XI. He joins goalkeeper Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Federico Balzaretti (Roma), Gerard Piqué (Barcelona), and Maicon (Manchester City) in defence.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Nani (Manchester United), Neymar (Manchester City), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) and Lionel Messi (Barcelona) complete the eleven.


Viktor Fischer has won two Danish awards this year, being named as Danish Player and Danish U19 Player of the Year for 2013. Fischer moved from Ajax to Dortmund for £7.5m in the summer and has three goals and five assists from his 16 appearances. He earned his first senior caps this year.

Kostas Katsouranis has won the Bundesliga goal of the month for December for his strike against Eintracht Frankfurt on 14 December. Katsouranis smashed home a dipping volley from 15 yards in stoppage time to seal Dortmund’s 3-1 win. Arjen Robben (Bayern) and Kevin Pannewitz (Wolfsburg) took the runners-up places.
