Dortmund’s U19 side were in action this morning, drawing 1-1 with Osnabrück in the U19 Bundesliga Group 3 match, which saw them lose ground on the sides above them. Walter Zeh scored from close range with quarter of an hour played after a disastrous back-pass from an away defender allowed the teenager to pounce and put BVB ahead.
Osnabrück, two points and one position below Dortmund, were level ten minutes later when Matthias Powlowski beat the offside trap and rattled the crossbar from the edge of the box. Taner Yalçinkaya was first to the rebound and had the simple task of poking home an equaliser, and that’s how it stayed.
With 13 games to play, Dortmund are 10 points off the pace of leaders Schalke who went 11-unbeaten at the start of the season.
Dortmund’s Head of Youth Development Volker Kersting has confirmed that the club have signed 15 year-old striker Benjamin Bella from Aachen for a fee of £800,000, and he has tabled a bid of £1.1m for Hamburg’s highly-rated teenage right-back Gordon Sievers who is expected to agree terms in the next few days.
