Leitner (U21); Dudziak, Bella (U19) Earn Caps

Benjamin Bella made his international début at any level by starting for Germany U19s in their 2-2 friendly draw at home to Slovenia, putting in a good display before being substituted shortly after half-time with the visitors leading through Milos Zizek’s 35th minute strike.

Jeremy Dudziak came on in the 66th minute, and had turned the match around within five minutes. He squared the ball across the box for Davie Selke to level the scores, and just sixty seconds later scored with a fine shot from 20 yards to put Germany 2-1 up. Saso Hojnik levelled for Slovenia inside the final ten minutes, and that’s how it finished.

Germany’s Under-21s were also involved in a 2-2 draw, playing Japan in a friendly. Lennart Klose opened the scoring for Germany in the first ten minutes, with Tada Kensuke and Toshimitsu Iwata scoring after the break to put Japan in front. Moritz Leitner, who played the full 90 minutes, sent a deep cross in for Kevin Volland to head home an 81st minute equaliser.
