SUNDAY 06 APRIL 2014: New Dortmund U19 Manager Rodolfo Borrell took charge of the side for the first time today, overseeing a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen at Stadion Rote Erde. The visitors had an early strike chalked-off for offside, but BVB took the three points with a header by Josef Odenthal and a late strike from Benjamin Bella.

BVB stay third in the Group 3 table, eight points behind leaders Schalke with just four games remaining. Jens Braun picked up the man-of-the-match award, his second in two matches since signing a youth contract. Right-back Osman Varol missed the game after being granted compassionate leave, and the club send their condolences to him and his family.

schieberJulian Schieber has won the Player of the Week Award for his hat-trick performance in the first team’s 4-1 win over Köln yesterday. He becomes the 8th winner of the award at Dortmund in the 25 weeks so far, and is his third time this season. Mario Mandzukic (Bayern) has won four.

Schieber joins Marcel Schmelzer in the Bundesliga Team of the Week, which also features Felipe and Artur Sobiech who performed well for Hannover in their 4-1 win over Hamburg. Leverkusen ‘keeper Bernd Leno makes the XI after a number of fine saves in their 3-1 win over Schalke.

perisicIvan Perisic has resumed full training after missing seven matches since breaking his arm in the defeat at Hannover at the beginning of March. The club haven’t commented on his fitness ahead of Wednesday’s match against Juventus.
