TUESDAY 20 MAY 2014: Andreas Bergmann has been dismissed by VfL Bochum after they finished bottom of the Bundesliga with just 26 points from their 34 matches, conceding a staggering 91 goals in the process. The news comes just as Borussia Dortmund were rumoured to table a bid for central midfielder Leon Goretzka (above).
The nineteen year-old spoke to worldsoccer.com about the rumoured deal, saying that he is “flattered” at reports linking him to BVB, and would “be foolish to turn down a move to the champions, and would would consider any offer they may make.”
Meanwhile, there is also talk that BVB are chasing Schalke midfielder Max Meyer (above) who scored 7 goals and made 18 assists for their title-winning Under-19 side this season. The huge rivalry between the two sides is likely to be a stumbling block, however.
Aberdeen have unveiled Pat Bonner as their new manager following Nigel Clough’s dismissal last week. The popular Irish goalkeeper is undertaking his first managerial role, though has extensive coaching experience as well as being the FAI Technical Director.
Following their disappointing 10th-place finish in La Liga, Sevilla have parted company with manager Míchel after two years at the club. Marcelo Biesla is apparently top of their shortlist, but he may have one eye on the vacancy at Manchester City.
A week after their relegation to Serie B, Davide Dionigi has left Reggina for the vacant managerial position at Parma.
