Tottenham Hotspur have smashed their record transfer fee to sign Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva for £42m, dwarfing the £16m they paid for Luka Modric in 2008.
Leiva has been ever-present in the Premier League for the past two seasons, scoring two goals in each campaign. The 27 year-old is in Mano Menezes’ Brazil squad for the FIFA World Cup that begins in the country tomorrow.
The deal is the highest transfer fee for a player worldwide since Hulk’s move from Porto to Zenit St Petersburg for £48m two summers ago.
Dortmund U19 have confirmed two friendlies so far this summer. They’ll travel to Nürnberg on 05 July, with a trip to Bayern Munich on 02 August. In other news, BVB’s senior squad turned down the chance of a friendly at Saint-Etienne on 30 July.
