Bayern Munich have accepted a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for top-scorer Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian, who scored twice in the 4-2 win over Brazil at the World Cup yesterday, is reported to be on his way to White Hart Lane in a deal worth up to £20m.
It’s understood that the Spurs bid was in the region of £16m up front with additional payments based on the player’s goalscoring.
Borussia Dortmund have been following Mandzukic’s availability since the end of the season, but Bayern Munich priced their Bundesliga rivals out of the bidding by refusing to consider any offers below £40m.
Mandzukic was the leading scorer in Europe last season, with 29 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances, winning the adidas™ European Golden Shoe for his prowess last week.
The transfer window opens on 01 July.
