Deutsche Fußball Liga have revealed the fixture list for the new 1-Bundesliga season, set to begin on 23 August, a week after the First Round of the German national domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal (draw made on 06 July).
Borussia Dortmund begin the defence of their title at home to Werder Bremen, who were the last opponents at Signal Iduna Park in May, with BVB running out 4-0 winners before being presented with the Bundesliga trophy.
Last year’s runners-up Bayern Munich host Bayer Leverkusen in a tantalising opening day match, while the three promoted sides all begin their seasons at home: Augsburg welcome Nürnberg to the SGL Arena in their first game back in the top flight; Hertha Berlin host Hannover; TSG Hoffenheim will entertain Hamburg.
Due to their involvement in the UEFA Super Cup ahead of an international break, BVB are the only team to open with two consecutive home fixtures. No team faces opening the new campaign with two away ties.
The domestic season curtain raiser of the DFL-Supercup takes place on 26 July between DFB-Pokal runners-up Fortuna Düsseldorf and double-winners Borussia Dortmund, at the Esprit Arena.
Two of BVB’s fixtures will have to be rescheduled at a later date due to clashes with the Group Stage of the UEFA Champions League. The 17 September match at Hamburg, and the 26 November away match at Augsburg will have new dates assigned to them at a later stage.
