[DD] Everton £2m Taiwo Bid; Bella at UEFA 19s

SATURDAY 28 JUNE 2014: Everton have had a £2m bid for Dortmund left-back Taye Taiwo accepted by the Champions League winners. Taiwo joined from AC Milan last summer in a £1.8m move but didn’t dislodge Marcel Schmelzer, making just 10 appearances.

If the deal goes through, BVB won’t make a profit on the deal after sell-on fees due to AC Milan, solidarity payments to his former clubs, and bonuses due to the player after the successful season last year.

Stoke City and Werder Bremen are also thought to be interested in the player. Dortmund have 20 year-old left-back Cimo-Patric Röcker arriving from Werder Bremen next week, representing a saving of around £45,000 a week in wages.

Benjamin Bella has been included in the German squad heading to the UEFA U19 Championship next month. Germany are in Group B with England, Portugal, and hosts Hungary.

Group A features Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, and favourites Spain. Holders France didn’t qualify.

Germany’s matches are on 15, 17 and 20 July.
