Daily Diary, 06 July 2014: Paris Saint-Germain have splashed the cash in order to reclaim the Ligue Un title with the stunning capture of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera for £31.5m, the second-largest deal of the summer so far.

Elsewhere, two significant deals have also been completed today. West Brom have signed Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez in a £7.5m move, while Eduard Salvio has swapped Benfica for Bayern Munich in a £10m deal.

Dick Advocaat has decided to leave his position at PSV Eindhoven and retire from football management. Advocaat lifted the Eredivisie trophy with the club in 2013, but finished fourth last season, four points behind champions Twente. It’ll be a summer of change for the club, as captain Mark van Bommel has also announced his retirement from playing at the age of 37.
Striker Martin Sauer unfortunately broke his wrist during yesterday’s U19 Friendly win at FC Nürnberg. He’ll be out of action for approximately six weeks.
St Pauli have had a season-loan loan offer accepted by BVB for teenage centre-back Koray Günter, who spent last season on loan at Valladolid. The club will look to play Günter regularly in the first team, and will pay his wages in full.
BVB have also accepted a £180,000 deal for young striker Said Benkarit from Hansa Rostock. The 2-Bundesliga side are offering £20,000 up front with the remainder staggered monthly over the next three years.
