Dortmund manager Gray Surman turned down a job offer from the Spanish giants last week.
Bayern Munich have spent an initial £10.5m for Arsenal’s 27 year-old striker Olivier Giroud, with extras taking the deal to £12.5m over the course of the coming season. Giroud won the Europa League with Arsenal this year, but didn’t make the French World Cup squad.
Dortmund have accepted a season-long loan offer for their teenage centre-back Kai Kaul from Kickers Offenbach, with the third-tier German side paying 100% of the player’s wages for the duration.
