German Squad For Argentina Friendly

Joachim Löw has announced his 23-man squad for next Wednesday’s friendly against Argentina at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. The game could see a first cap given to Kevin Volland, whose 17 goals fired Hoffenheim to the 2.Bundesliga title last season.

National media have raised a few eyebrows over some of the selections, namely Julian Draxler’s inclusion ahead of Marko Marin, and the decision to select Mario Götze instead of Mesut Özil. Götze is one of ten Borussia Dortmund players named in the squad.

Schalke left-back Diego Contento is named in the squad after missing the World Cup campaign through injury, where Germany beat Argentina 3-1 in the last sixteen before quarter-final defeat to eventual champions Italy.
