DAILY DORTMUND DIARY, Tuesday 19 August:
Lars Bender will miss the opening Bundesliga match on Friday night at home to Werder Bremen after suffering a minor wrist injury in the weights room during today’s training session. Club medical staff recommend he wears a splint for a week to rest and support the joint.
The club has expanded the scouting team with the addition of twelve new employees following a month-long hiring process. BVB will pay their former employees over £4¾m in compensation and severance packages. Chief Scout Norbert Dickel will continue to direct the scouting team with assignments.
BVB are surely not winning any fans in Leverkusen, particularly after the summer captures of Lars Bender and André Schürrle, as five of the new members of the Dortmund backroom staff come from Bay Arena. It’ll be a spicy affair when the sides meet in a month’s time.
