DAILY DIARY, Saturday 30 August:

Twenty-three players have been selected for international duty next week, including nine senior players in Joachim Löw’s German squad to play world champions Brazil in a friendly in Dortmund, before opening their Euro 2016 Qualifying campaign at home to Denmark.

In Löw’s squad are Lars and Sven Bender, Andreas Beck, Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer, Mario Götze, Marco Reus, Julian Schieber, and André Schürrle. The only surprise is Ilkay Gündogan’s inclusion ahead of an in-form Sami Khedira, despite the Manchester United midfielder not enjoying the best of spells at his new club.

fischerViktor Fischer (left)Stevan Jovetic, Robert Lewandowski, Heinz Lindner, Ivan Perisic, and Neven Subotic have been called-up by their respective countries for the senior squad(s), all of whom are in action on both Friday 5th and Tuesday 9th September.

Dennis Praet and Hervé Matthys have been selected for Belgium U21 and u19 respectively. Mustafa Amini (on loan at Sandhausen) and Koray Günter (at St. Pauli) have received nods for Australia and Turkey U21s respectively. Amongst the club’s youth team, Ibro Beslija (Bosnia) and Emiliano Mancinelli (Italy) are set for U21 action.
