Josef Bungert scored three minutes into first-half stoppage time to put Dortmund in front against Wuppertaler SV on the opening day of the U19 Bundesliga, with Stadion Rote Erde playing host to this morning’s Group 3 match between the sides.

Hendrick Brauer had a fantastic game for the youngsters, and it was his cross with two minutes to play that was headed home by Martin Sauer to double the lead, and seal the 2-0 win. Osman Varol and Jens Braun picked up cautions during the match.

Last season’s group winners Schalke got off to a winning start, despite playing for 40 minutes with ten men, with a 5-2 win over Fortuna Köln, whom BVB face next Sunday.
