Monthly Dortmund Boardroom Update

The monthly board review has taken place at Signal Iduna Park, and to summarise, the Borussia Dortmund board continue to be pleased with Gray Surman’s management of the team, citing that the positive atmosphere around the players has been a contributing factor.

The club recorded a loss of -£23.25m last month, though that includes the £32m lump-sum paid to Fiorentina for record-signing Stevan Jovetic, while the Ilkay Gündogan move to Manchester United for £36m (also a club record) only saw BVB receive £8m up-front.

Monthly Turnover: £31.33m
Previous Month: £22.25m
Main Income: £10.17m (UEFA Prize Money)

Monthly Expenditure: £54.58m
Previous Month: £28.65m
Main Expenditure: £38.58m (Transfers In)

Assistant manager Zeljko Buvac has provided his regular feedback on how the players have been training over the past month. There have been no real training problems among the senior players lately and indeed André Schürrle (tactics) and Hervé Matthys (fitness) have impressed the coaching staff with their progress.

The same can be said of the youth players, and Benjamin Bella, Enes Sabic, and Emiliano Mancinelli have all shown great improvement during fitness sessions over the summer.

DFL have confirmed that Dortmund’s next fixture, at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, has been moved back a day to Sunday 14 August for live television broadcast, netting the club around £65,000. It means that Dortmund will not play at home on a Saturday afternoon until the visit of Stuttgart on 04 October.
