D³: Weidenfeller Signs New 1-Year Extension

Roman Weidenfeller has stated that his love for the club was the main reason behind him agreeing to a one-year contract extension at Borussia Dortmund, where he has played for the past twelve years. The 34 year-old goalkeeper’s original deal was due to expire in the summer, but has been extended to 2016 with a small pay increase.

bvb2015_70_matthysHervé Matthys was the only Dortmund player involved in international duty last night, playing 80 minutes at centre-back for Belgium U19 in their 2-1 win in Luxembourg. He had a reasonable, if quiet game (6.9), winning 80% of his challenges on the ground and in the air.

Thomas Meißner had a disappointing game (6.2) for TSV Aachen in their 0-2 defeat at Energie Cottbus in the second-flight earlier today.  The young defender, on loan at the club from Dortmund, gave away a series of free-kicks despite his aerial prowess. The result sees them slip to 10th.
