Leverkusen U19s rolled up at Stadion Rote Erde as the unbeaten Group 3 leaders, and were promptly sent packing with a five-star display from Dortmund’s youngsters, which put the hosts second in the group.
Marwin Kerstiens put Dortmund in front from a narrow angle when he drilled home low from just inside the box from Osman Varol’s ball ten minutes in, and shortly after, Varol sent a cross to the far post which Saied Hosaini volleyed home to double the lead.
Less than a minute before the break, Andy Engel pulled one back for the visitors as he beat his man for pace and slotted past Daniel Schmadtke despite the Dortmund ‘keeper getting a hand to the shot.
The two-goal cushion was restored forty-five seconds into stoppage time when Ilker Aydin broke down a Leverkusen attack, turning into a counter for the hosts, and eventually finished the move from twelve yards out.
Six minutes after the break, Ilker Aydin scored his second when Benjamin Bella’s neat touch teed the ball up on the edge of the box for Aydin to smash past the visiting ‘keeper for 4-1, and Hendrik Brauer completed the rout when he turned home Aydin’s corner at the near post.
15 year-old defensive midfielder Dominik Baron came on as a substitute around the hour mark, and after the match put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement to sign a 1-year professional contract with the club on his 17th birthday in October 2015.
BVB U19s have no game next weekend, but are back in action in a fortnight, hosting new table-toppers Aachen who beat Wuppertaler SV 2-0 this morning.
