Austrian U19 Euro Qualifiers Squad Named

Gray Surman has named his 23-man Austria U19 squad for the UEFA 2015 Qualifiers in the Netherlands next week, recalling two players unavailable to him last month through injury, while giving six further players their first international call-ups.

With new UEFA regulations coming in ahead of the first qualifying ties, players ineligible through age for the finals tournament are not permitted to play in any qualifying round, so a staggering nine players were automatically ruled-out from the previous squad (though several have been named for Austria U21).

As expected, the squad is mainly made up from youngsters from Red Bull Salzburg, and the two Viennese  powerhouses. Austria’s three qualifying fixtures will take place in Enschede, Netherlands as they will look to overcome the hosts as well as Andorra and Estonia. A top two finish in the ground guarantees progression to the next phase.
