Dortmund’s youngsters suffered their first competitive defeat of the season in a disappointing loss at home to Group 3 leaders Aachen, who won it through an Alexander Hildebrandt goal seven minutes from time.
Patrick Cornelius put the visitors ahead after twenty minutes when his penalty beat the diving Kristof Müller by a matter of centimetres, after Enes Sabic hacked down an opponent in the box. BVB didn’t register a single shot at goal until first-half stoppage time when Dominik Baron fired over the bar from 25 yards.
Ogün Gümüstas was the first to test Stephan Gusche when the Aachen ‘keeper pushed away his shot at the near post five minutes after the break, but Gümüstas was able to square the loose ball back across goal for Emiliano Mancinelli to drill home an equaliser.
Alexander Hildebrant won it on 83 minutes when he blasted home from ten yards out after Pawel Gul won the ball back on the right and played a lovely ball through the Dortmund defence who were pushing up for a late winner of their own.
Aachen keep-up their 100% start to the season, while BVB slip to fourth after being leapfrogged by Leverkusen who won 2-1 against beat Dortmund’s next opponents, Bochum.
