Neven Subotic scored his fourth senior international goal, opening the scoring with a powerful header as Serbia won 2-1 in Romania in their Euro 2016 Qualifier today. The result took them back into the top two behind Croatia who’ve won all three of their matches so far.
Ivan Perisic played an hour for Croatia in their 2-0 win over Kazakhstan as he returns from a knee injury, while Heinz Lindner (Austria) and Robert Lewandowski (Poland) also made senior international appearances tonight, with both matches ending in draws.
Toni Kroos drilled home a 91st minute winner for Germany as they finally broke down a stubborn Lithuanian defence in their Euro 2016 Qualifier in Cologne tonight. Mario Götze had a hand in the goal, and four other Dortmund players took part in the game:
André Schürrle and Lars Bender won their 40th and 30th caps respectively, with Mats Hummels also starting the match. Julian Schieber came off the bench for the last half-hour, winning his tenth cap in the process.
Players are all due to return to Dortmund tomorrow, with only Stevan Jovetic being unavailable for the significant future having suffered two broken ribs in Montenegro’s defeat to Germany on Friday.
The next international fixtures are due in five weeks, with Germany playing Colombia in a friendly in Hamburg on 19 November. Euro 2016 qualification resumes in March.
