Nürnberg and Werder Bremen traded a pair of first-half goals in the weekend’s opening 1.Bundesliga fixture tonight, which sees the visitors climb out of the bottom three, temporarily at least.
John Chibuike swept home the opener for Werder Bremen following some good work down the right by Füllkrug, but Nürnberg were level midway through the first-half when Adam Hlousek drove home an equaliser from close range as Werder couldn’t clear their lines.
On Saturday, two of the promoted sides face each other as Hertha Berlin travel to Augsburg, while Bayern play Freiburg and Mainz host Frankfurt. Wolfsburg are at Hamburg, with a point enough to put them top come the end of the day.
Match of the weekend comes on Sunday as Dortmund entertain Schalke in the 145th Revierderby, while fourth plays sixth with Hamburg hosting Leverkusen. Stuttgart go to Gladbach on a day where any of the top six could be table toppers come Monday.
