Ogün Gümüstas was among the scorers as BVB brushed aside RW Essen 3-0 at Stadion Rote Erde, consolidating third place and keeping pace with the top two, just one point behind Aachen and four back from Leverkusen.
Gümüstas had attracted the attention of Energie Cottbus over the weekend, with the 2.Bundesliga side making an official approach to take the 18 year-old striker on loan for the rest of the season, which Dortmund accepted, keen to see their hot prospects experience first team action.
Ilker Aydin put Dortmund in front on the quarter-hour after a he pounced on a woeful back-pass to poke the ball past a helpless Schulz between the Essen posts. Gümüstas doubled the lead six minutes later when he ran on to a fine Horn pass and lashed home from a narrow angle.
Daniel Schmadtke wasn’t tested by the visitors, and the win was wrapped-up in the final fine minutes when Tomas Capecchi headed home from a corner. Promising left-back Wout Devriendt made his début for the side after completing a move from AA Gent last week.
BVB U19 are back in action on Wednesday with a trip to 12th-placed Wuppertal.
