Ten-man Dortmund suffered their first defeat after six wins on the bounce, going down 0-2 at SV Wuppertaler this afternoon and having Marwin Kerstiens dismissed on the hour for his second yellow.
Despite dominating possession, BVB’s finishing was wayward throughout with the home ‘keeper only forced to make one save before Wuppertal took the lead after half-hour through Jannik Wengert thunderbolt from 25 yards. Kerstiens picked-up his first yellow shortly after for a trip.
Dortmund pushed for an equaliser after the break but were unable to turn possession into chances, and were caught on a counter-attack on the hour and Kerstiens brought down his man on the break and was shown a second yellow card. With time running out, Rainer Osieck slotted home to double the home side’s lead.
Dortmund stay third, while Wuppertal remain 12th. BVB U19s are back in action on Sunday at Group 3 leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the last sixteen of the national youth cup.
