Dortmund are through to the Quarter-Finals of the national youth cup after a three-goal win at Bayer Leverkusen this morning, bouncing back from a disappointing league defeat at Wuppertaler on Wednesday
When the hosts didn’t clear a corner quarter of an hour in, Emiliano Mancinelli had time and space to drill a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Pushing for an equaliser shortly before the break, BVB caught Bayer on the break and Mancinelli doubled his tally when Karl-Heinz Horn squared for him to slot home.
Inside ninety seconds of the restart, Marwin Kerstiens siezed on a sloppy backpass from a defender, before nutmegging the home ‘keeper to put Dortmund three-up at the interval. That’s how it stayed, and BVB book their place in tomorrow’s last eight draw.
There was no place in the squad for Jeremy Dudziak, who completed his loan move to Ingolstadt later in the day.
