Josef Bungert scored his second goal of the season a quarter of an hour into Dortmund’s win over Fortuna Köln in this morning’s U19 Bundesliga Group 3 match at Stadion Rote Erde, and was cruelly denied another moments later when he was wrongly adjudged to have handled before scoring.
Bungert raced on to a brilliantly weighted through-ball from Martin Kerstiens before lashing home from 15 yards out to open the scoring, and was lively throughout as Dortmund tried to extend the lead. The visitors rarely threatened, and while BVB couldn’t add to the score, ultimately didn’t need to to take the points.
The slim win sees Dortmund slip a place to 4th behind Schalke on goal difference after they beat Düsseldorf 3-0 this morning. Dortmund host Schalke next Sunday, with leaders Leverkusen the next league game after that.
