South Korea have won the 2015 AFC Asian Cup after beating China 2-0 in Adelaide. Both goals came from Ki Sung-Yeung in an otherwise-even contest, with the Blackburn midfielder opening the scoring inside ten minutes before slotting home a penalty shortly before half-time.
South Korea were appearing in their sixth Final, and first since 1988, lifting the trophy for the third time with previous wins coming back-to-back in 1956 and 1960. China have now been beaten in all three appearances in the Final.
The competition’s top scorer was Porto’s Shinji Okazaki who hit seven goals in Japan’s run to the Semi-Finals where they lost to the eventual winners.
