Juventus have retained their Serie A title for the first time since 2003, with three games to spare after a 5-0 thumping of relegated Bari last night.
Nearest rivals Inter beat Cagliari by the same scoreline on Sunday to stay in the race for another day, but Juvé’s win moves them eleven points clear with just nine left to play for.
Emanuele Giaccherini put the champions in front inside five minutes, with Alexandre Lacazette doubling the lead ten minutes later. Sebastian Giovinco made it three before the break, as rock-bottom Bari started to collapse.
A fourth goal came three minutes into the second-half through Mirko Vucinic, and he had time to add a fifth even as the visitors took their foot off the pace late-on.
Juventus will play Inter in the TIM Italian Cup Final in Rome on 24 May. Juventus haven’t lifted the cup since 1995’s defeat of Parma, having been beaten in the final four times since, including twice in the last three seasons. Inter, meanwhile, have played in seven of the last ten finals – winning four.
