RSC Anderlecht have won the Jupiler Pro League with two games to spare after beating AA Gent 3-1 at home tonight, sealing their fourth consecutive title and record 34th in Belgian top-flight history.
Ivan Lendric and David Texeira had the Brussels-based side two-up at the break, before Shlomi Arbeitman pulled one back for the visitors on the hour. Ten minutes later, Lendric drilled home his second of the game and RSCA could celebrate.
Anderlecht finished nine points clear of Genk at the end of the regular season, and have gone eleven points clear after the PO1 Playoff system halved their total after 34 games when the league splits.
It’s Anderlecht’s fourth title in a row, a feat only achieved three times before. Rhodienne-De-Hoek won the league from 1900 to 1903, before Saint-Gilloise won the following four years from 1904-1907. Anderlecht hold the record though, having won five consecutive titles between 1964 and 1968.
