Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar of Schalke is officially Europe’s most lethal finisher after collecting the adidas™ European Golden Shoe Award today having scored 29 goals in the 1.Bundesliga season, six ahead of both Wilfied Bony (Sociedad) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (St.Etienne) in joint second.
The 31 year-old Dutch striker scored 50 goals in 59 competitive appearances for club and country over the past season, of which only six were penalties (he also missed three).
It’s the second season in a row that the award has been claimed by the top-scorer in German football after Mario Mandzukic (then of Bayern Munich) won in 2014 with the same 29-goal total.
Swansea City’s Danny Graham won in 2013 with 27 goals. He scored 19 this season.
