Weekend Writings: Football Manager (1982)

David from tinytickle.co.uk recently got in touch to share his recent article taking a look at the original Football Manager, released in 1982 by Kevin Toms and Addictive Software.

First released on the ZX Spectrum in 1982, Football Manager was the worlds first football management simulation computer game. Four versions of the game were made between 1982 and 1992, selling over one million copies.

The game introduced the familiar aspects of football management as we know it now – player transfers, media speculation, financial management, reputations, cup competitions and endless league seasons. Later versions introduced tactical editors, sponsorship, text commentary and more.

This weekend, take a look at Tiny Tickle and enjoy Football Manager, 1982. You’re also able to play the game for yourself, courtesy of an embedded ZX Spectrum emulator on the page. I’m just glad to be here.

During our break before the November relaunch for the release of FM16, we thought we’d share interesting content each weekend. Please get in touch if you’d like us to show off your work!
