FRIDAY 18 APRIL 2014: Lucien Favre has resigned as manager of Hamburg to take the managerial vacancy at Olympique Lyonnais after just a year in charge. Hamburg are currently 8th in Bundesliga, while Lyon are on course to win Ligue Un as they hold a 12-point lead at the top.

Slaven Bilic bafflingly quit as Lyon boss to take charge at Valencia (5th in La Liga) earlier this week. Frank de Boer has ruffled the feathers of the Ajax fans by publicly admitting his interest in the Hamburg job. Ajax are a point behind leaders Twente in Eredivisie with two games to play.

Real Madrid have won La Liga with their 3-1 win over Sociedad tonight. With just four matches remaining for both sides, they now have an un-catchable 15-point gap over Barcelona. Real are the second side amongst Europe’s top flights to seal the title so far this season, joining Manchester United.
