[DD] £7.5m Naldo Bid; U19s Win at Schalke

SUNDAY 12 JANUARY 2014: Dortmund’s Under-19s came away from their league game at table-toppers Schalke with a 1-0 victory courtesy of Hannes Bongard’s 15th minute strike. The home side couldn’t clear a corner and the young centre-back prodded home the only goal of the game. The win lifts BVB to 4th in Group 3, while Schalke stay top.

West Brom have sacked manager Steve Clarke after the club have lost 3 of the last 5 matches, finding themselves hovering above the Premier League bottom three.

Celtic Vigo have also disposed of their manager after another defeat leaves them second-bottom in La Liga. Paco Herrera had been at the club for three and a half years, but now finds himself looking for work.

Meanwhile, Malaga have appointed Alberto Toril as their new man in charge.

Dortmund’s league match at Fürth has been moved back a day to Sunday 26 January for live TV coverage.

Wolfsburg have rejected Dortmund’s improved £7.5m bid for centre-back Naldo. It’s understood that Dortmund aren’t willing to negotiate further and have ended their interest in the player.
